How is it to sit there, in the last row of an orchestra and wait for your single triangle beat?
I just can say that I still love it. And even if there is only few to play,, playing together with more than fifty musicians is just amazing. Adding my tiny little sound to the whole is an extraordinary feeling… And actually there is a lot more to do most of the time. ..
I started to play in professional orchestras shortly after I started to study orchestra percussion in Leipzig, which was in 1993. And after more than twenty years it is still challenging. There are still new pieces to play in only a few rehearsals – In the concert it has to be perfect. This is just challenging. And a good performance is just overwhelming. That’s all.
